We believe and we have recorded testimony (1 John: 1 -2) that Jesus is God. Man was created to share in a special and personal relationship with Jesus. When man disobeyed God and sinned we were condemned to eternal separation from God. His love, however, caused Him to reach out, separate Himself and become flesh; God's only begotten son, ‘Son of Man’ (John 1: 1-14). He then stood in the gap for man, paid the necessary penalty for sin (Romans 6:23) and repaired the breach in the relationship between man and God. We now only have to step forth in faith and experience the absolute joy that being in a relationship with God entails (Psalms 32: 1-2) This is aptly summed up in 2 Corinthians 5:17-21 as follows: ‘Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new. And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.’
